Gene & Gean

Gene Tunney (New York, NY, 1897) was an intelligent, dedicated, determined self-made fighter. He studied each opponent in detail and was prepared and well-trained for every fight. He was quick, had boxing "savvy", posessed a sharp jab, a stiff right hand punch and used good foot work. Nat Fleischer ranked Tunney as # 8 All-Time Heavyweight. Charley Rose ranked him as # 6 All-Time Heavyeight. Tunney was elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990.
